Laguna Beach Crash Sends Injured Driver to Mission Hospital

On May 24, 2011, an Orange County crash caused serious traffic delays on Laguna Canyon Road. Officials reported that the one-car crash took place in the 900 block of Laguna Canyon Road around 9:30 a.m.

The Laguna Beach Police Department said that a male driver in a Honda CR-V was traveling westbound on Laguna Canyon when he crashed. The driver apparently lost control of his vehicle, which then rolled several times, went off the road, and crashed into a light pole. He also knocked down some parking meters during this Tuesday morning crash.

The driver’s name has not been released, but he was injured in the crash and taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo for medical treatment. His condition is not known at this time. There were no passengers in his car, and no other cars were involved in this Orange County crash.

Due to the power pole that was struck, several hot power lines were scattered, blocking lanes. Officials had to close down nearly the entire road, only allowing one lane of traffic in and out of Laguna Beach. Traffic was backed up for over two hours on Laguna Canyon Road, as this road connects and leads to the 405, 133, and 73 freeways.
