Family Labor Day Drive Results in Multiple Injuries in Orange County Crash
On Labor Day, Monday, September 5, 2011, a serious crash in Orange County occurred involving two vehicles. Orange County police authorities indicated that several people were injured in this car accident, sending some to the hospital.
According to reports, there were four children treated for moderate to critical injuries and ten people in total who were injured in this wreck.
According to the Orange County Police Department, the crash occurred on Monday afternoon around 1:45 p.m. on Jamboree and Chapman Avenue, which turns into Santiago Canyon. A Toyota van was traveling eastbound on Chapman and attempted to turn northbound onto Jamboree when a Volkswagen car hit the van.
The Toyota van flipped over upon impact. The van was carrying five people, including children in car seats. When paramedics and emergency responders arrived on scene, they treated ten people for injuries.
Seven ground ambulances responded to take victims to area hospitals. One air ambulance responded and transported one critical victim to UCI Medical Center in Orange. Another victim in critical condition was transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
Police closed the intersection from about 1:45 p.m. to 6 p.m. and issued a SigAlert due to this serious crash.
